MEMENTO ODESA was created in 2023 in collaboration with the Chamber Orchestra of the Odesa Philharmonic, under the direction of conductor Volodymyr Dykyi, beginning with a joint recording session at the Odesa Philharmonic — a musical tribute to the resilience of Ukraine amidst the ongoing war.
The music blends classical elements, contemporary jazz and deeply emotional expression into a unique soundscape in which improvisation and orchestral depth interweave into a multi-layered whole.Die Zusammenarbeit mit dem Kammerorchester der Philharmonie Odesa unter der Leitung von Dirigent Volodymyr Dykyi begann im Sommer 2023 mit einer gemeinsamen Aufnahmesession in der Philharmonie Odesa – als musikalische Hommage an die Resilienz der Ukraine inmitten des andauernden Krieges.
Die Musik verbindet klassische Elemente, zeitgenössischen Jazz und tief emotionale Ausdruckskraft zu einer einzigartigen Klangwelt, in der sich Improvisation und orchestrale Tiefe zu einem vielschichtigen Ganzen verweben.

As founder of the XJAZZ! Festival he builds bridges between genres and cultures. MEMENTO ODESA unites neoclassical, jazz and cinematic elements into a distinctive artistic vision.

Anastasiia Pokaz is a cultural manager and singer from Odesa. Since the beginning of the Russian war of aggression against Ukraine, she has been based in Berlin, where she works as a Creative Producer for the XJAZZ! Festival and combines her artistic practice with cultural engagement.
Together with Studnitzky she organizes the MEMENTO ODESA project and involves her network in Ukraine.Anastasiia Pokaz ist Kulturmanagerin und Sängerin aus Odesa. Seit Beginn des russischen Angriffskrieges gegen die Ukraine lebt sie in Berlin, wo sie als Creative Producerin für das XJAZZ! Festival arbeitet und ihre künstlerische Praxis mit kulturellem Engagement verbindet.
Zusammen mit Studnitzky organisiert sie das MEMENTO ODESA Projekt und bindet ihr Netzwerk in der Ukraine ein.
The OrchestraDas Orchester
The recording session in Odesa was performed with a full symphonic orchestra of 45 musicians conducted by Volodymyr Dykyi. For the German tour, the chamber orchestra of the Odesa Philharmonic — 22 musicians, predominantly female due to restrictions on men leaving Ukraine — brought the project on stage.
These concerts created a deep emotional connection and a unique resonance that reaches far beyond the music.Die Aufnahme-Session in Odesa wurde mit einem vollständigen Symphonieorchester mit 45 Musiker:innen unter der Leitung von Volodymyr Dykyi realisiert. Für die Deutschlandtour brachte das Kammerorchester der Philharmonie Odesa – 22 Musiker:innen, überwiegend Frauen, da Männer die Ukraine derzeit nicht verlassen dürfen – das Projekt live auf die Bühne.
Diese Konzerte schufen eine tiefe emotionale Verbindung und eine einzigartige Resonanz, die weit über die Musik hinausreicht.

Released in autumn 2024, the album is a powerful musical testament to resilience and unity, featuring recordings from Odesa and a live performance at Berlin's Gedächtniskirche. It seamlessly blends the improvised session from Odesa, where the project began, with the emotive energy of the live concert, creating a unique fusion of jazz and classical influences.
With its haunting compositions and cinematic sound, the album invites you to experience the emotional depth of this musical journey.Das im Herbst 2024 erschienene Album ist ein eindrucksvolles musikalisches Zeugnis von Resilienz und Zusammenhalt. Es vereint Aufnahmen aus Odesa und eine Live-Performance in der Berliner Gedächtniskirche.
Das Album verschmilzt die improvisierte Session aus Odesa – wo das Projekt seinen Ursprung fand – mit der emotionalen Energie des Live-Konzerts und schafft so eine einzigartige Verbindung von Jazz- und Klassikeinflüssen.

The tours since 2024 brought the music to 23 cities in Germany and to six concerts in Odesa, Kyiv and Lviv — at venues such as the Philharmonic Hall Odesa, Gedächtniskirche Berlin, Staatsschauspiel Dresden, the Berlin Philharmonie and the Laeiszhalle Hamburg. Donations exceeding €60,000 went to childrenofheroes.org and a project delivering first-aid kits to the front.Die Tourneen seit 2024 führten die Musik in 23 Städte in Deutschland sowie zu sechs Konzerten in Odesa, Kyjiw und Lwiw – in Spielstätten wie der Philharmonie Odesa, der Gedächtniskirche Berlin, dem Staatsschauspiel Dresden, der Berliner Philharmonie und der Laeiszhalle Hamburg. Spenden von über 60.000 € gingen an childrenofheroes.org und ein Projekt zur Bereitstellung von Erste-Hilfe-Sets für die Front.
